The Fran Galvin Memorial Scholarship

Campus Safety Officer Fran “Good ‘n’ you?” Galvin served and cared for several generations of Bennington College students, faculty, and staff. With humor, kindness, and a constant smile, he helped create a safe and healthy campus for over 35 years. For many, Fran stands tall in the memories of our Vermont days, in some ways as integral to our Bennington experiences as the faculty. His devotion to community welfare cannot be forgotten. If Bennington College’s Campus Safety Office were to have one face, it would be Fran Galvin’s.

Let’s keep Fran’s memory alive for a new generation of Bennington students who are without his wisdom and support. The Fran Galvin Memorial Scholarship Committee is raising $50,000 to create an endowed scholarship in Fran’s name. This scholarship will help one Bennington student each year, perhaps a local student from Fran’s beloved Bennington area, or like Sergeant Galvin, someone with a military background.
